Then he’s cornered, trapped with nowhere to go, and Owen realizes to his horror that the delicious scent belongs to the human pointing a gun right between Owen’s eyes.
He escapes, only to be confronted by two wolves, and his world is turned when he realizes one of them is a shifter from his former pack. Owen has so many questions but he’s not sure he’s going to like the answers.
Zeke is huge and fierce to his co-workers in the Cavalry, but he has one desire; to protect Owen and create a life together. Will Owen submit, or will the lone wolf run?

Excerpt
Zeke led Owen into the barn with the quad bikes. “You need to stay with me.”
“Can you keep up with me?” Owen wasn’t teasing. He could run fast, particularly with the sleep and food he’d had over the last couple of days.
“I think so.” Zeke swung his leg over the seat of the quad bike as Owen stripped off his clothes.
Owen shifted and looked at his mate. “Let’s go.” He started to run, hearing the quad bike cough into life and start following him.
He pushed hard, feeling the air burn in his lungs and the earth beneath his paws. This was what he needed. Exercise and connection to the universe. He couldn’t imagine being a human and not having a link to the world around him. Humans didn’t know what they were missing.
“Some humans,” Zeke corrected.
“You’ve known me for a couple of hours and you think you know everything?” Owen meant it at as a tease but there was an element of truth in there. Being a shifter was so much more than most humans could ever imagine.
“I get the impression I’ll never know everything about you.”
“Damn right,” Owen agreed.
“I like that.”
Owen stumbled at the wave of satisfaction from Zeke. His big mate didn’t want simple. He liked Owen, as roughed-up and broken as he was. Owen wasn’t used to anyone wanting him for who he was.
“You were waiting for me.”
Owen laughed at him over the mate link. “You’re so full of it!” At Zeke’s amusement, Owen shivered with pleasure. “See if you can keep up with this—human!”
He forged on ahead, knowing he was going to reach the border of Sapphire Ranch soon and be on the old ranch’s deserted land. Aware of Zeke behind him, the quad drawing close, Owen had a decision to make. Part of him still wanted to run and keep running—a large part of him, if he were honest. But with his mate at his back, the moon was calling him to do something else.
“I’m here, Owen.”
Owen slowed before he reached the fence line, and turned to face Zeke, who stopped the quad. The moon glimmered off Zeke’s skin and Owen shivered again, this time with want. He wanted Zeke like he’d not wanted any other man. Owen had been hard from the minute he stepped into the diner. Now he wanted to do something about it. He shifted and walked up to the bike, knowing his intent was clear through the mate link and his body language.
